Nara Park

Toudaiji

Here in Todaiji there are many national treasures, such as the world's largest wooden Big Buddha of Nara and the February Church which is famous for the Kap Shui Festival. On top of that there is the 25 meter tall South Gate and the oldest Fahua Shrine from the Heian period. The Bell Tower, which houses a 26 ton bell, is also a great attraction and the masterpiece, Jie Tan Hall, which is guarded by the Four Heavenly Kings.

Kasuga taisha Shrine

The Kasuga Grand Shrine was built by Fujiwara Fuhito 710 A.D. just before the Heian period. Except for the main hall, Wakamiya Shrine and the South Gate, 300 out of 520 items in the treasure palace are identified as national treasures and precious cultural objects. In addition, in late April the wisteria bloom and create a beautiful sight. In February and August there is a Thousand Lantern Festival when at night, the sight of the flowing lanterns is an extraordinary sight.
