Yuda Onsen Hot Spring Street yudaonsen

It is said that originally the Yuda Hot Spring was just a small pool in the temple at the foot of Mt Gongen. The monks of the temple dug the pool for the foxes in the forest and would tend the wounds they received. The rolling springs of pure alkaline water have an average temperature of 50 degrees. It is said to have a great effect on neuralgia, rheumatism, neuritis, fatigue, skin moisture and many other problems. If you wish to experience the most famous hot spring in all of Yamaguchi, then you need to visit Turtle Soup, adjacent to the hotel. The interior is reminiscent of traditional facilities and supports baths, ponds and saunas. The Tank Spa is a local favorite, and must be enjoyed alone. Guests of Super Hotel receive a discounted fee to Turtle Soup and is a "must see" location!

The Gojuto Five-story Pagoda

The Gojuto Five-story Pagoda

This pagoda was built in honor of Ouchi Yoshihiro, who lost his life in the battle of Ying Yong 6 years before (1399). It took many years to complete but was eventually finished in 1442, after the death of Yoshihiro's brother Shengjian, the man who ordered the pagoda built. The pagoda has three rooms with three entrances and is 31.2 meters tall with Higawa-repaired roof tiles. It is one of three Japanese pagodas designed with a touch of Tang Dynasty in the architecture, during the Muromachi period. In the 36th year of the Meiji period, it was declared a National Treasure.

Xavier Memorial Church

Xavier Memorial Church

Built in honor of Francisco Xavier, a sixteenth century Roman Catholic missionary. It was not until 1952 when the people built the Memorial Hall in order to praise his great achievements, some 400 years later. Since its construction, it has been a favorite of the people. In 1991, it was destroyed in a fire but was eventually rebuilt in 1998.The new Memorial was designed by Italian priest and Rugeriand architect Lei Aoni. The asymmetric triangular roof covers the whole building with two white towers standing on the roof and pointing to heaven. The stained glass in the Memorial Hall also enriches its sacred and solemn nature. There is an information booth on the first floor with details of Francisco Xavier and his activities.
