Imuta Lake
Imuta Ike is a large crater lake which was formed after the explosion of Ii Mori Yama. It is about 295 meters above sea level and 4 kilometers in girth. At Imuta Ike, there are some natural creatures and landscapes which cannot be found elsewhere, such as an endangered dragongfly (onychothemis testacea tonkinensis), and the “floating island” which is a national nature reserve. In addition, Imuta Ike is the best place to appreciate the cherry blossom in Kita Satsumasen. In spring, 2,000 cherry trees along the lakeshore blossom at the same time, and the splendid sight is as beautiful as a landscape painting. There is spacious park nearby, and you can enjoy your leisure time in the park, such as boating, cycling, and walking.
