Yosano Akiko museum
Born in 1878, Akiko was the daughter of a Japanese snack businessman during the Sakai Era. She began to write short poems early during her childhood and her first work “Uncombed Hair” was a big hit on the young generation of that time. Then she became a pioneer of the new age. In Sakai, there are tablet inscription and sculpture to praise her work. And the people constructed a memorial hall for her as well. She was a genius female poet who could represent Japanese poetry. The Yosano Akiko Museum is the place which displays her short poems, classical literature studies, critics on feminine independence, education, social activities and all other fields involved. In regular exhibition, her works from the Sakai Era to her old age are all maintained. There is the first version and manuscript of her representative work “Tousled Hair”, too.
