Okazaki castle
Okazaki castle is located in Okazaki Park and is known as the birthplace of Tokugawa Ieyasu. Its construction dates back to 1455 A.D. It was torn down because all castle-type buildings were ordered to be demolished during the Meiji Restoration. It is now in its original grand style, though, thanks to it being reconstructed. The Otemon Gate, the bronze statue of Tokugawa Ieyasu, the historical museum and many other related spots are definitely worth visiting. The observatory on the top of the castle tower is worth seeing the most: you have a panoramic view of the Mikawa plain. Standing here, you will feel as if you are a warlord years past. Also, there is Okutono Jinya, the beautiful Japanese garden and the small clock tower with traditional karakuri puppets, which dance all about. We recommend that you stop by when visiting the castle.
