Cape Manza

Cape Manza

Located on a cliff with a height of 20 meters at the coast of East China Sea, Cape Manzamo is one of the main sites of interest in Okinawa Prefecture. When you are standing on the cape and looking into the distance, the view in your eyes is spectacular. The strange rock in the shape of an elephant’s trunk and the extensive sapphire sea which stretches to the horizon- tourists are amazed at the attractive and breathtaking views created by the magnificent natural surroundings. In front of the cape, there is a beautiful park which has an expansive natural lawn. A long time ago, Syokei, the king of Ryukyu Kingdom, once praised this plain as ""a Moe (prairie) which can hold ten thousand people”; hence, the cape is named as “Manzamo”. Around the park, there are local specialty shops and parking lots. It will be a wise choice to visit the Cape Manzamo, the most spectacular natural sight in Okinawa.

Syuri Castle

Syuri Castle

Syuri Castle is a majestic palace which still brings us back to the ancient Ryukyu Kingdom. Since the establishment of Ryukyu Kingdom, Syuri Castle floured for 450 years as the royal court. The original castle was almost completely destroyed during the Battle of Okinawa in 1945; and the present Syuri Castle was reconstructed in 1992 as one of the Okinawa Recovery and Commemoration Projects. The castle stands on a 120 meter high hill as if it were overlooking the whole city of Naha. Syuri Castle is an exotic building mixing Chinese style with Japanese style. When standing in this castle, people always cast their minds back to the brilliant culture and scenes of the ancient Ryukyu Kingdom. Around the castle, there are many historical buildings. Including Syuri Castle, nine sites of interest have been designated as a World Heritage Site.
