Minamata Sickness Material Pavilion

Minamata sickness is a disease caused by environmental pollution, and the number of victims of this disease is quite striking. Minamata Sickness Material Pavilion is dedicated to sorting and preserving valuable data. The general public are welcome. Through the exhibition of images and pictures on the large screen, you can learn the origin and history of Minamata disease. You also can participate in the “communication on the issue of Minamata disease” if you would like to get a deeper understanding of this disease. At the meeting, you can directly hear the thoughts of the patients of Minamata disease. Taking themselves as examples, the patients present their true suffering to the people (Reservation is needed if more than 10 people). With people’s sincere wishes and alarms, Minamata Sickness Material Pavilion aims at preventing the recurrence of the tragic history of environmental pollution. Since the museum opened, the number of visitor increases year by year, and there are also many overseas tourists.

Shinsui Gogan

Shinsui Gogan is a nature preserve the western side of Eco-park Minamata. Equipped with a pedestrian path and lighting, it is a nice promenade for locals and tourists to take a leisurely stroll. On the coast facing the sea, benches are replaced with well-arranged stone stairs. While sitting at the side of the peaceful Minamata Bay, you can appreciate the beautiful scenery of Romance Island. At dusk, it is a quiet romantic sight when the sun is setting. The pedestrian path is built with environmentally friendly material; such a park can only be in Minamata, as environmental protection is first here. Adjacent to Eco-park Minamata there are rich and colorful resort facilities, such as a Sports Park, Rose Garden, and a Bamboo Garden. Please enjoy your visit!
