Ishidori Matsuri

Every first Saturday of August from midnight until late Sunday night a festival is held in the vicinity of Kasuga Shrine. The origin of this festival takes place 300 years ago, when local villagers used to carry stones from the Machiya River for the purpose of preparing the running tracks for the traditional Shinto "Yabusame" (Japanese archery while on horseback). Now, this festival is called as "the most boisterous one in Japan” by the local people with love and attention. During the festival, more than 30 Sidecar floats known as the "Festival car” parade around the city in musical unison, beating their loud drums. Participants can experience spectacular sights and sounds all around. In addition the sight of the beautiful landscape of festival cars is not be be missed.

Nagashima Paradise
