Kitami Mint Museum

By 1939 (Showa 14), the mint production of Kitami had reached such a high level that it accounted for 70% of the world's production and was the foundation used in the development of Kitami. The museum honors that amazing achievement and holds many records from that time. The museums traditional design was rebuilt from the offices of the Kitami Mint Factory, which was closed in 1983 (Showa 58). There are Kinetoscopes and mint samples from the old factory displaying the prosperous vision to visitors. In the adjacent Mint Distillation Museum, visitors are able to actually see the process in action.

Okhotsk Beer Brewery and Restaurant

Beer Brewery and Restaurant has brought great local beer to Hokkaido. It was born as the first native beer of Japan "Okhotsk Beer" in Hokkaido, and is 100% malt brewed. It is full-bodied, mild and mellow, and slightly bitter. On the restaurant menu, there are many different kinds available including Pilseners, Pale Ales, and Wheat beers, etc., 5 types in total. Aside from the home brews, there are many dishes specifically created as a match for drinking beer, such as Guinness stew beef, stone roast mutton and more. Please be sure to come here and taste the all of the special beers, brewed by the shopkeeper, as they are unique and shouldn't be missed!
