Michinoeki Arai was built at the same time as the Arai Parking Lots of Jyoushinetsu Road. From Jyoushinetsu Road and the National Highway 18 by-pass, both offer easy access to various handmade soba shops, fresh vegetables, specialty stores and the gourmet street.

Imoriike

There is a little pond, which is one of the most popular scenery spots in the area, covering 500 meters near the Myoukou-kougen. The lake reflects Mt. Myoukou and scenery around is as beautiful as a picture, which attracts many photographers and tourists. Shinryoku no haru and Momiji no aki are highly recommended places, especially during the late April to early May. More than 100,000 Japanese skunk cabbages are in bloom, which is worth going and seeing. There is a porch along the pond for the tourists and it will take you 15 minutes to walk around. When feeling tired, there are many rest areas and foot care areas (not free). By the way, "Imoriike" received its name because many axolotls used to inhabit here. But now it's famous as a habitat of tree frogs.

Sasagamine farm

Those looking for beautiful rustic views will enjoy the area near the southern end of Myoukou-kougen, at an elevation of 1300 meters. While access to the farm itself is not allowed, it can be viewed from afar from June to October. The massive expanse, equal in size to 38 Tokyo Domes is a breathtaking sight. The view of Mt Myoukou with its Norwegian Spruce is so vast it feels as if you were on a European plateau. There are many hiking trails available to enjoy as well.
